You are invited to submit works to be considered for performance. Your dance(s), if accepted, will be placed in one of the six or more programs by the Adjudication Committee. More than one work from any one school may be accepted for performance.
Two Showcase concerts and two Gala concerts, each featuring different programs, will be held on the Friday and Saturday of the Festival. The Showcase and Gala Concerts are tentatively scheduled for 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively, at the Byham Theatre, located within walking distance to campus, in the heart of Pittsburgh’s Cultural District. These are full-tech concerts.
The Friday Outstanding Student Choreography Concert will feature student choreographed works only. All works selected for this concert will be eligible for the “Outstanding Student Choreography” Award (during the tech for this concert, a new panel will be judging the works. The choreographer(s) will be interviewed immediately following their tech. The winners will be announced at the Friday Gala).
All other concerts will feature works choreographed by high school faculty, guests (including any Reconstructions) and also students.
Two to three Informal (low-tech) Concerts will also be held in the GRW Performance Space on campus. This will be scheduled within the class time slots on Friday and Saturday.
The full concert schedule will be available prior to the Festival.
Review and Notification
An Adjudication Committee will blind review all works submitted. For integrity purposes, the members of the committee will not be announced until after the adjudication process is complete.
Acceptance will be based on the quality of performance and choreography. No one will receive written feedback nor have access to the judges’ adjudication forms. You may, however, request verbal feedback of information on the forms. Works will be judged on the categories listed on the adjudication form.
Schools will be notified of committee decisions no later than Dec. 18, 2017.
Please read the Rules and Submission Guidelines prior to submitting any works. Deadline is Dec. 7, 2017, for submissions and fees.
